If you see this text, it's either because you're here during sign-ups or I've failed to finish my letter in time for the assignments. Uhh. It's coming, I promise. While you wait, feel free to poke around my earlier letters:

If you've read my previous letters, you'll see this one's different. I thought I'd try to be a bit more thorough. It's mostly taken off a half-finished project of mine, so if things sound a bit off or generic, it's simply because I didn't take extra time to tailor them for this particular ficathon.

In general, I'm a pretty easy reader to please, or so I'd like to think. :D So don't be to afraid of what to write for me. Chances are high I will love it whatever it is.

The following lists will be long and wordy. Please don't let that scare you off! :D I just want to explain better what I mean by something, so there's less confusion. If your mind screams ODAO, that's perfectly fine! Just take a look at the DNWs in the sign-up or here under the cut, ignore whatever else I've listed here, and you're good to go. Yes, you are.

I'm going to get the bad stuff out of the way first, because those are often the things I want to know if no other info is available. Where not to go, what not to touch. Also, the fact that my dislike list is long does not mean I will in fact hate everything and like very little. Definitely not! I promise!

I don't have very many hard DNWs to be honest. Almost anything dark/questionable/extreme is a case-by-case thing. But there are a few. Rest assured, I have no triggers I'm aware of, so the worst you can do is make me go "ew, I'm not touching this". No harm done, except no kudos or comment for you because I'll just stop reading.

As for the following dislikes, they're all of the "things I'd rather not get UNLESS I specifically mention otherwise in the details" kind. With just about every one of them there are some instances they're ok or even welcome, so don't consider them instant DNWs but instead read the fandom notes or what I say in the sign-up itself. (Some of these might sometimes show up in my DNWs so the list in the sign-up is usually the most accurate for that specific challenge. The one I have before this paragraph is accurate for Rare Male Slash Exchange.)

DISLIKES

Rape between the requested characters
- dubcon tends to be ok as long as both end up enjoying it (tagging/not tagging it is up to you)
- noncon will be specifically requested (please tag it or use a 'chose not to use warnings')
- being raped by an OC is ok if it serves the purpose of the story (e.g. dystopia, darker hurt/comfort, torture, something else similar to those - tagging is up to you)

AUs like coffee shop/bookstore/band/college

Gender identity headcanons

Autism spectrum headcanons

Recreational drug use (alcohol and smoking are fine, anything starting from weed upwards is a no - fandom-specific drugs will be mentioned under fandom notes)

Strong kinks unless specifically requested (meaning BDSM, fisting, bloodplay, breathplay etc.), mostly because I'm picky, not because I hate them with a passion

Super fluff with extra schmoopy whipped cream on top (cutesy pet names used unironically, overuse of pet names unless canon, super romantic dates complete with teary proposals)

Pregnancy or kids (having, planning, being - mentioning canonical kids is fine)

Size/age kink (so extreme size/age differences being a turn-on - I'm fine if there just happens to be a size/age gap)

Tentacles

Wingfic or wings in canons where they don't exist (angels yay, Hobbits no)

Extreme xenophilia that borderlines on bestiality
- I prefer humanoid shapes with other humanoid shapes, and sentience, and being able to communicate
- If you kink on exotic genitalia I'm afraid that kink is totally lost on me, but if it's canon (like the Centauri) I'm not going to be upset by it

Bi-erasure
- So please don't do the whole "X was straight and clearly in love in canon but in order to pair these two up I'm going to insist X was just lying and is in fact übergay, because there can only be straights and gays, and bi only means you haven't decided" because ugggh, FU too.
- Canon closet cases are a completely different matter, but I'd prefer to have canonical proof they were in fact gay all along and just didn't realize it or accept it or needed to hide it in order to survive.

Eating disorders, self-cutting or other self-harm, clinical depression etc. that isn't present in the canon

Soulbonds/soulmarks/soulmates (there are very few cases where I like the idea and they will be marked accordingly)

Aliens/sex pollen/aphrodisiac made them do it (I'm a fan of free will and own choice)
- Pon farr is fine because it's canon (and oh, so handy)

WRITING

I'm fine with any rating from G up to and including NC-17, both sexual content and violence

I prefer 3rd person POV, but 1st and 2nd person POVs aren't a problem if you feel the fic needs to be that way (with some canons like Michelle Paver's Dark Matter 1st person POV makes perfect sense)

I'm fine with any tense, as long as it's consistent

I'm less fine with total disregard for spelling

I'm not fine with lots of mixed then/than, there/their/they're, to/too, your/you're, etc. that could easily be avoided. A couple might happen to all of us, so I'm not going to hunt you down for a typo, I promise. :D

The word 'villian' gives me hives. Please don't give me hives.

I don't like reader inserts, whether it's reader/character or a Mary Sue/Gary Stu type of a situation

Please begin your sentences (or people's names!) with capital letters unless there's a stylistic reason for it (those can be awesome)

Please spell the characters/races correctly (So that's a no for Mimbari, Ronan Dex or Oscar Issac. Eesh.)

Damn, I sound like a picky reader. :D I thought I was easy.

Now, with all of that out of the way, let's finally focus on the good stuff. So much good stuff! Way more good stuff than bad!

LIKES

This isn't a complete list but it's the best I could do right now. They should give you an idea of something I might like.

drama (take that any way you want - conflict between characters, drama show type plots, "regular" prose as opposed to comedy or tragedy, any take on this word will do)

dialogue (I love hearing the characters, but I've enjoyed lots of fics that have no dialogue at all, so if you don't feel it's your forte don't fret)

angst (light, heavy, it's all good)

hurt/comfort
- physical, emotional and mental hurt
- hurt can be as light or heavy as you want
- no need to be in perfect balance as long as both are there
- not a fan of sickfic with flus and stomach bugs, or terminal illnesses as hurt

I'm open to just about any fic you might have in mind. I haven't read the book but you're free to add things from there if you have and want to. I was very fond of the whole main cast and I'd love to read another case with any of them, however big or small. Or just a regular day in their life.

Laszlo/John: Maybe John's having nightmares/repressed memories and asks Laszlo for help. Maybe they just have lunch and catch up. Maybe John stumbles upon a case where he needs Laszlo's help or vice versa, or Laszlo acts in a way that has John concerned. I'm fine with Sara being there (John/Sara is cute) or them having an open relationship, but I'd prefer the fic's focus to be on these guys.

Lucius/Marcus: My fondness for sibcest is showing again. :D What's not to love about science twins solving crime? I'd take anything, at any point in their life, as long as they're at least 16 for anything that goes beyond kissing and touching. Maybe they grew up thinking it's just their own thing and only later learned that it's wrong. Maybe they've always felt guilty. Maybe they're both pining in their own corners for years until something changes it.

DARK MATTER - MICHELLE PAVER

I don't think there's a person out there who read it and didn't shout WHAT NO FIX THIS after it ended. So please, fix it. I don't care if it's canon divergence or supernatural future fic or an afterlife fic (natural death or unnatural, whatever). I'd take all of those as long as these two can be together. Leo/Ray: We know very little about them. Give me anything, in either universe. Something set in their bleakest moments or something a bit happier. As long as neither one turns into a nazi (unless it's to play one for appearances in order to save a life) I'm good with almost anything.

Jax/Stein: It's the lack of privacy that gets me. They've created boundaries, but those are bound to fail occasionally, right?

Constantine ships: I want flirty Constantine with guys! :D Really, that's all I ask. I'm very flexible as to what actually happens. (I've seen the woefully short first and only Constantine season, and you're more than welcome to add bits/canon from there if you want.)

Jonah Hex ships: Same here. I want more Jonah. I want more westerny gentlemanly cowboy who knows more than his peers and really enjoys the possibilities these new modern world people with their openminded attitudes can offer. Or tell me about his and Rip's history together.

[As usual, I don't have any clear prompts for this fandom, either. But one idea I'd like to read about is sort of future-fic-ish in the sense that Constantine is going to join the crew for the next season, and it'd be fun to read your take on how it could go. Or what about an AU-ish thing where Jonah also joins the crew?

I also forgot to mention in the notes that I'd love a fix-it for Stein. For obvious reasons. Maybe a canon divergence, maybe a time travel thing, whatever works.]

DEADPOOL (MOVIEVERSE)

I'll openly admit that I'm a movie fan who hasn't read the comics (I've skimmed through some), but don't let that stop you from using comics if that's your thing. I intend to read some in the near future but don't consider using their canon in any way spoilery. Or ignore comics altogether, that's perfect too!

I could've chosen half a dozen pairings but thought I'd stick with just this one. It's the one that's been on my mind a lot since I saw DP2. I don't really have any fancy prompts to give you, sorry. I'm not into full-on crack but I love the movie's crude humour so a few spoonfuls of crack is always welcome. Or surprise me with a serious, deep, angsty piece of fic with Nate missing his past. I love the idea of a restricted Nate vs. pushy Wade, especially if Nate's only restricted up to a point and Wade might in fact end up regretting his pushiness. :D And you can never go wrong with time travel hiccups.

Anyone is welcome to show up at any time. These people are wonderful.

Ha, I saw this in the tag set and went YES DO WANT. I think I've read one fic and it was lovely. If anyone feels like writing more, I can assure you there's an audience of one here for sure. Just don't make it a modern day AU, please. Internalized homophobia is fine, but please don't have either one using slurs as insults against each other or other people. "I'm no fag," is fine. "You're a fag," is not.

[I wanted to add here that I'm not super picky about how you treat the era details, so if it's a bit anachronistic that's fine. The "no modern day AU" doesn't mean it has to be perfectly accurate, just that I like the series and the world it portrays, and I'd be disappointed to see them driving cars and owning gas stations or sex clubs with neon signs, and making video calls with smartphones.

I don't really have any prompts to offer. I'd be open to anything during the show, maybe pick an episode you like. But it would be equally interesting to see something set before canon, before Mike showed up, or something that takes place after canon.]

THE EXORCIST (TV)

Fandom-specific DNW: Completely ignoring guilt that comes from being a priest and having a physical relationship or trying to pursue one. Unless there's a story that explains why they're at peace with it (which I'd love!), I consider it OOC at least for Tomas. Feeling guilt for being gay? I can easily be convinced either way so this is less of an issue.

I love Marcus. I don't know how it happened but it did, and I just want him to have some happiness and comfort in his life because he's had it rougher than anyone deserves. Whether it's with Tomas or Peter, I don't care, because I love both ships for different reasons. I adore Marcus' total disregard for personal space. And the way he can flirt with just about everything that moves. :D Also, and this is random, I love the way he uses his hands. To touch, to express things, to console. I don't always have a hand thing but when I do I have it bad.

Marcus/Tomas: I love the development of their relationship. Only a few short moments ago they didn't even know the other existed, and since then they've become a mentor and a student and then colleagues. They don't always agree and they argue, yet it doesn't break the bond they have. I love the intensity between them. I love Marcus' experience contrasting with Tomas' slightly questionable ideas. I will forever hate not seeing what the "Tomas" at S2's end was really about. What happened?!

Marcus/Peter: Theysocute! No, I know, two grown men being men isn't supposed to be cute, but I think they're adorable together. There's a quiet comfort between them, with lots of sadness and we-can'ts, and I'd love you to fix some of that if you can. Even momentarily if not for longer.

Feel free to go wherever you want with the religious aspects, whether it's all nice and by the book, something dark and twisted and dirtybadwrong, or something else entirely. You can't offend me, I assure you, and nothing's too blasphemous for me.

GOTHAM
Jeremiah Valeska/Bruce Wayne
Jeremiah Valeska/Jerome Valeska

Fandom-specific DNW: Don't kill Alfred. Anyone else in Bruce's life is fair game (sorry, Bruce) but I can't deal with a world without Alfred.

Jeremiah's a creep but somehow he's a lot more likeable than Jerome. For me, anyway. His insanity is more subtle, and he's totally unpredictable. I also prefer his looks to Jerome's. :D It's the make-up, I think.

Jeremiah/Bruce: I'd be equally happy with either pre-insanity or post. If you want to create a canon divergence AU where Jeremiah stays sane and he does develop a friendship with Bruce, I'm definitely there. It might sound a bit mundane but I'd love it. If you want to go the more disturbing "you're my best friend and I'll prove it to you even if I have to kill you to see it" route, yeah, I'm still there. As long as you don't make Jeremiah a cardboard villain but somehow explain the logic he sees behind his actions - that he really does believe he's doing a good thing in his own twisted way - I'm good.

Jeremiah/Jerome: I don't even know. I ship siblings so I thought hey, why not. This could be anything, but please keep them over 16 if there's more than kisses.

STAR TREK: DEEP SPACE NINE
Julian Bashir/Miles O'Brien
Odo/Weyoun

Julian/Miles: I love their developing bromance. I love their game dates. I'd take anything that gets them together, at any point in the canon. Miles has been through some nasty things, so hurt/comfort would be wonderful, related to the canon hurt or something you create yourself. Or vice versa, hurt Julian for a change. You can handle Keiko any way you want, delete her from existence or give them an open relationship or a civilized divorce, whatever works for you, but I wouldn't be happy with infidelity or a messy divorce.

I have to admit I'm not overly fond of how Julian's genetic enhancements were introduced. The fact that he's been faking for years, making Miles believe he can win Julian, and then he says that hahaha NOPE. It pushes my humiliation button and makes me uncomfortable. Of course you don't have to avoid it, but if you can avoid making it a massive plot point I'd appreciate it.

Odo/Weyoun: If I'm allowed to show preference, I'd definitely want Weyoun 6, please. :) I'd love you forever if you gave a canon divergence AU where things ended more positively. What would've happened? Of course I wouldn't say no to any other Weyoun (they're all pretty and they all worship Odo) so don't feel restricted by my preference.
