Dear RelationShipping Writer
Jul. 18th, 2017 00:39![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
Hello, random fandom sharer aka my RelationShipping Writer! :D I don't really have any good excuse for unscreening this letter so late. Just that I didn't have a good time to finish it until now, because it's been that kind of a week. I hope I haven't made you nervous.
I have several Dear Writer letters on my LJ, from before I moved onto DW, and maybe you've found them. I'm going to copy & paste bits from some of them, although my tastes don't vary that much. Any of my old letters would do.
And if you don't do letters, that's fine, too. I'll very likely like whatever you write, as long as you stay away from the DNWs. :) So feel free to ignore some or all of this and write something you reallyreally want to share with me. Believe me, if I at any point sound uninterested or bored, just know that inside I'm bouncy and excited because this challenge is love. ♥ My kink! I can show it and people won't look at me funny! :D How cool is that?
So... From my sign-up:
DNW: Strong kinks (BDSM, fisting, animal play, scat), size/age/daddy kink, rape/noncon between requested characters, overly fluffy stuff, unproblematic incest (I prefer at least a hint of guilt from at least one party), total AUs, explicit underage sex
General Likes: Drama, angst, h/c (mental and physical), bonding, pining, sweetness and happy/hopeful endings, fix-its, what-ifs, canon divergence, missing scenes, various scifi tropes where applicable (for example,: wormholes, time travel, reliving bits of time, telepathy, invisibility due to accident, clones, androids, alien tech) but also other tropes (confined spaces, forced intimacy, accidentally finding out secrets, enemies and/or friends to lovers, hidden identities, lots more I can't even think of right now :D)
Gathered and copied from earlier letters:
Things I like:
Dialogue, drama, humour and banter, angst, hurt/comfort, first times, romance, getting together over established relationship, plot over smut, adventure, strong and independent female characters, friends or enemies getting together, UST/RST, alternate timelines, time loops or time travel, parallel universes, AUs of the what-if kind, missing scenes, alternate endings, mission/casefic, going undercover, masquerades or other type of hidden identity. If you have a trope in mind and it's not listed here or in the list below, I probably like it but didn't think of it just now.
Things I'm not fond of:
Overly sweet fluff, humiliation, mpreg, kidfic (adopting, raising, babysitting), domesticity as the main focus, supernatural AUs (wingfic, werewolves, vampires etc. if they don't exist in the universe -- a bit of magical realism is always welcome), coffeeshop/highschool AUs, A/B/O, spanking, genderswap or crossdressing, permanent death of a character in pairing (unless specifically okayed)
And now onto this particular ficathon. Fandoms will be in alphabetical order and the length of the text in no way correlates with how much I want the fic. I'm equally happy to receive any single one of these.
DARK MATTER
Four | Ryo Tetsuda/Hiro Ishida
Ah, Four. He's a complicated one for me, because I really like the Four we get to know, but I despise Ryo we get to meet later. He's just too evil for me to find him compelling, and yet... I kind of want to find that crack in his hard exterior that shows that he too has a heart. It's just buried somewhere deep, underneath all that hatred and pride and vengeance and, in a fucked up way, thirst for justice.
I'm not sure what I'm looking for in this pairing, but the moment I saw it in the tag set I thought it was fascinating and had to add it. My only DNW here is that I don't want it to turn into noncon/rape at any point. I'd be ok with dubcon. As for timeline, my thoughts go to their earlier days, when they were closer. So yes, I'd prefer something happier before anyone was framed or felt betrayed.
However, if you have an idea for maybe a what-if scenario for when they meet again, do write that one. A kind of a fix-it, maybe? I would love to know how thing might've gone if Ryo hadn't done what he did.
Or maybe you have something in mind from Hiro's POV? I'd be really curious to read that. Or delve into the betrayal and shock and devastating end and make it painful. I usually prefer happier endings but sometimes a good tragedy can work just as nicely.
As for the other characters, I like the whole gang and most of the supporting cast, so I'd be happy to see anyone showing up.
THE FLASH
Cisco Ramon/Dante Ramon
Another "ooooh, that would be really pretty" pairing. I'm still not fine with Dante's fate due to Flashpoint. I prefer the world before that. Is there a way for you to fix it for them? Do Legends of Tomorrow help out or will Flash have to screw things up again?
Or you could make it an AU, a parallel universe thing, where things are still the same they were before (or a little different) Flashpoint. Because hey, it doesn't really need to be this Earth, at least not for me. I haven't read the comics so the other Earths are totally foreign to me, but if you do then you can use them or you can create your own. :) Is there an Earth where they are a couple, and how would that happen?
You can make them feel all the guilt in the world. You can make one of them adopted and only have them find out that they're related when it's way too late. You can make them angst about it and never do a thing because they have boundaries. Or you can make it one-sided and painful and sad. Or anything, really, as long as it's not just a "lalala, we're brothers and it's fine, we don't really care and no one will mind".
GOTHAM
Bruce Wayne/Alfred Pennyworth
This one's a complicated one for me. On one hand, I don't really ship this teenage Bruce with anyone, at least not beyond the point of having a crush and wanting to kiss a girl. So I'd prefer no outright smut with these two when he's still underage. On the other hand, I can see the bond these two have, the possibility of very strong codependency and of strong, questionable feelings. The familial bond is there. The love and caring, the feeling of having a second father who's also a mentor and a friend. There's no question these two are tight.
I don't have any particular prompts in mind, except it could be interesting to see how things look from Alfred's POV. When's the moment he realizes Bruce is not just a kid he's fond of but something more? Because it's normal for a teenager to develop a crush on an adult, those happen every day, but it's different the other way around.
Of course I'd never say no to a Bruce POV, either. :) We get that on the show so it's familiar. His early days of finding his Batman persona could be an interesting point in time, so feel free to use that. To be honest, I'm fine with almost anything outside DNWs.
THE LORD OF THE RINGS - JRR TOLKIEN
I have no preference for bookverse or movieverse, so you can pick either
Boromir/Faramir
I will always ship these two. They've been one of my most beloved of tragic brotherships and I don't think that'll ever change. I think I'd be happy with whatever you can think of, whether it's a fix-it, something happy, or something super sad. Just don't add hatred between them (hatred towards their feelings or hating themselves are fine -- hating a brother is not) and I'm fine with anything. I love Boromir's protectiveness and Faramir's sensitivity. Yet they're both strong in their own ways, Faramir maybe even stronger than Boromir. I love how with their fucked up family life they depend on each other. Anything that touches that would be loved. :)
Éowyn/Éomer
Another pair that you could write in any way you want and I'd be happy with it. Eomer's protective of Eowyn, but Eowyn is stronger than he thinks. I'd be equally interested in reading how far Eomer would go to protect his sister (from Grima, from harm, from anything else he might think of), and how unexpectedly independent Eowyn is when she quite capably protects herself. Like with the brothers, I'm fine with happy or sad, with lingering touches and longing or with an us-against-them attitude. I don't even have preference for a timeline. I'm not fond of cheating spouses but, in a way, is it really cheating when it's your sibling? (In the real world that argument just sounds all kinds of wrong. :D But in this fictional world it doesn't. Not for me, anyway.)
MARVEL CINEMATIC UNIVERSE
Gamora/Nebula
I admit it, my first reason for this was how pretty it would be. I could look at Nebula for hours and just sigh stupidly. That was more or less my first reaction her when I saw GotG. I only started to like Gamora later. But I do like (or, rather, find interesting) their complicated relationship and the rivalry, the need for love and family. I feel for Nebula but I also feel for Gamora, and I just want them to find peace.
I'm fine with whatever point in time you want to use. Give me a glimpse to their earlier years. When were they happy, even for a moment? Or go post-movie(s) and have them build a relationship. I'd love to see that. I'd prefer them to have a happy ending, nothing tragic or sad, even when I do like those as well. But for these two, not today.
Laufey/Loki
My DNWs say no daddy kink, and I mean it. Also, no size kink. I'm aware this could include both but please don't. In my head, Loki does have daddy issues, but more with Odin than Laufey. Laufey is a lot more complicated issue because he's never been Loki's father, never raised him, and yet it's undeniable that he's Loki's real father. If I get to choose, I'd rather have it focus on that problematic "what is this, really" theme (or "why do I want him, am I really THAT huge a monster") than, say, Loki having a huge kink for all sorts of oddities or possibly building a plan to completely ruin Laufey out of malice.
I honestly don't have any prompts in mind for these two. I'm just curious about the whole concept. (I also have a thing for Colm and Tom, together or apart, which doesn't really help. :D I'm fine with anything featuring them that doesn't turn either one into a big baddie.)
Loki/Thor
As with most of these, I think I'd be fine with any take you have in mind. Go back to their earlier, happier days. Give me a missing scene from one of the movies. Go post-movie(s) (feel free to ignore Ragnarök completely because we've yet to see where the canon goes with that) and redeem Loki or have him have his revenge. As long as you don't go with a full on rape, I'm ok. Though I do prefer them having feelings, esp. in the case of Loki, because you'd think he's cold and manipulative and stops caring about everyone, and I don't think he does. And I feel he needs Thor, and Thor needs him, and forcing a permanent wedge between them would make me sad. (But sometimes I like sad so don't let that stop you from adding some of that.)
STAR TREK: VOYAGER
Taurik/Vorik
It's not tv show canon that they're twins or brothers, but I prefer to think they are. And apparently they are in a video game, so that sort of makes it canon, right?
At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I don't have anything specific in mind. I'd just really love to read more about either character, and especially the two of them together. We get to know more about Vorik on Voyager, but there's very little Taurik in TNG (and I think none in Voyager, which is why I was surprised to see the pairing here and not in crossovers), so you can create your own history for them. How's it like to be Vulcan and a twin and sharing everything with someone else from the very moment you were born?
(Following copied from an earlier letter.) Vorik's pon farr didn't go too well, with him ending up slightly creepy and rapey towards B'Elanna, but what if Taurik had been there? Would things have gone differently?
I have several Dear Writer letters on my LJ, from before I moved onto DW, and maybe you've found them. I'm going to copy & paste bits from some of them, although my tastes don't vary that much. Any of my old letters would do.
